CHICAGO HARVEST ru Fragrance announced the release of Tru Blooms Chicago First Harvest Eau de Parfum, a limited edition perfume infused with the unique aromas of flowers grown throughout the Midwestern metropolis. The fragrance offers a bright floral scent featuring notes of rose, lavender and violet at its heart, and only a limited quantity of the fragrance is available for purchase
at select Chicago-area retail locations, including Water Tower Place,
the Chicago Botanic Garden, the Museum of Science and Industry,

POP TWIST Britney Spears and Elizabeth Arden debuted Britney Spears Fantasy Twist, which combines two best-selling fragrances—Fantasy Britney Spears and Midnight Fantasy Britney Spears—in one sleek, innovative bottle. Britney Spears Fantasy Twist allows users to choose their scent with just a twist of the bottle. For the fragrances, Fantasy Britney Spears features scents of fruit and white florals, including
red lychee, quince and kiwi with a cupcake accord, jasmine, orchid,
creamy musk, orris root and woods, while Midnight Fantasy
Britney Spears offers notes of black cherry, framboise, plum, orchid,
freesia, iris, woods, white patchouli, vanilla and amber. For the

Inter Parfums, Inc. announced its subsidiary, Interparfums, and
Burberry signed a transition agreement that includes an additional
three-month period ending on March 31, 2013, and confirms the exit
payment by Dec, 31, 2012. Under this agreement, Interparfums will
continue operating the business for this brand until March 31, 2013,
at which time the business will be turned over to Burberry.
After ending its fragrance agreement with Coty, Karl Lagerfeld B.V.
announced an agreement with Inter Parfums for Inter Parfums to
create, produce and distribute perfumes under the Karl Lagerfeld brand.
Fragrance West announced its acquisition of Monarch Fragrances.
Fragrance West is a division of Horn, a distributor of specialty ingredients,
and this acquisition helps Fragrance West and Horn offer a broader
range of fragrance options and finished product solutions.
Nest Fragrances announced Tengram Capital Partners, LLC, a
private equity firm, acquired a significant stake in the company.
Laura Slatkin, Nest Fragrance’s founder, will continue to lead the
company as CEO and form an executive leadership team that will,
under her leadership, drive the company’s growth.
Tru Fragrance named Musk as the seasonal fragrance HipNote for
winter 2013. HipNote Musk was created by master perfumer
Irina Burlakova of Givaudan, and it offers top notes of bergamot, peach
and lemon petals, layered with jasmine, violets and musk blossom.
Women in Flavor & Fragrance Commerce (WFFC) is sponsoring
“The Art of Scent, 1889–2012,” on view from Nov. 13, 2012, through
Jan. 27, 2013, at the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) in New York.
Designed by Chandler Burr, curator of olfactory art at MAD, this
exhibition is dedicated to exploring the design and aesthetics
of olfactory art from 1889 to the present.
Firmenich inaugurated a new R&D facility in Shanghai. This building
will integrate laboratories cutting across the company’s scientific
disciplines, including the discovery and development of ingredients,
as well as technologies to improve fragrance performance, perception
International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. (IFF) opened a new liquid
flavors and fragrances manufacturing plant in Jurong, Singapore. The
higher capacity, 12,000-square-meter facility is part of a previously
announced $100 million investment in greater Asia and replaces the
company’s existing plant in the same area.
